ABOUT US
The Miwuk Museum and Cultural Center is a project of MACT Health Board Inc. It is the mission of MACT to improve the health status of the indigenous people we serve. It is the goal of MMCC to educate the public as to the rich history of the Miwuk people as a means to: continuing the living legacy of the Tribal organizations MACT represents, honoring the MACT Health Board founders, honoring the basket weavers, and enriching the cultural perspectives of our museum’s visitors. MMCC, through the collection and public display of cultural items, seeks to preserve—for ancestors past, present, and emerging—the culture and history of the Miwuk people and that of the American Indian tribes of California and the greater United States.
