The Collection

The primary collection held by the museum comes from Dr. Cooper. Dr. Cooper was a doctor in Angels Camp. He was the only doctor, at the turn of the 20th century that would treat the Native population in the Sierra Foothills. Often the Native people would gift Dr. Cooper baskets for his services. Dr. Cooper's collections was acquired by MACT fifteen years ago with the dream and goal of creating a museum to honor Miwok culture and basket weavers. We provide the utmost care for this important collection and it is displayed in the museum for posterity.
